WorldFest News: 07/03/2009
Fest Director Hunter Todd serves on the International Jury of the 4th Annual Seoul Drama Awards in Seoul, Korea. The final jury of six reviewed more than 50 international TV entries from 12 nations. The winners of the 4th Annual SDA will be announced in mid-September. Todd will attend the SDA Awards Ceremony to assist in presentation of their awards.

Dates set now set for the 43rd Annual WorldFest-Houston. April 9 - 18, 2010. Entries open on August 15th 2009. The Early Bird Discount Deadline is November 15th 2009. The Main Entry Deadline is December 15th 2009. WorldFest is the most unique International Film & Video Festival in the world, combining 10 major categories of Film & Video Production. We bring together filmmakers from Features, Shorts, Screenplay Writers, TV Commercials, TV & Cable Production, Student Films, New Media, Music Video, Documentaries and films for Business & Industry. No other festival in the world offers such a remarkable blend of creative talent. As one Remi Award Winning Director stated, "If I go to another festival, I mostly meet directors like myself... but at WorldFest I meet Remi Award Winning Writers, young Student Filmmakers, Music VIdeo Producers, TV & Cable People... a whole universe of filmmaking! Entries for the 2009 WorldFest are open, and we are very happy to report that they are running more than 19% over last year! We have added several new competition categories, and we are happy to announce new Remi Awards for the Best Houston and Best Texas Productions. Any Texas and Houston production is automatically entered into this competition. There is no extra category fee for these new categories.

We are very happy to say that all of us at Team WorldFest managed to survive Hurricane Ike. Some of the staff lost power for 16+ days, but all is back to normal (as far as can be) now.

WorldFest announces new PRODUCERS SEMINAR on Friday, April 27th at 2pm in The Renaissance Hotel Meeting Rooms. This is a panel of experienced Independent Film Producers that will review the complexities of producing and distributing the Indie Film.

The 40th Annual WorldFest is Ready To Roll! - 58 new Intl Indie Feature Films, 68 new Intl Indie Short Films - 500+ intl directors! We are honoring the country of Italy with 3 new Italian Films and 3 Classic Restrospects, including The Bicycle Thief! All Shows are open to the general public! Meet the Directors and the actors! Come to the WorldFest Festival Club and have a glass of wine on us! Just go to The Lodge at Bayou Bend and tell them you are a WorldFest fan!

We are now posting just the Short Films and Feature Films that are selected for screening. You may still win a Remi Award and not be shown to the general public. We have begun informing all Remi Nominees via email over the next few days. We expect the TV, Film & Video and other categories to close in the next few days. We will also inform you of the results, either way! ... we are posting the title, filmmaker and genre.

The past 39th Annual WorldFest-Houston was a remarkable ten days! Over 550 International Filmmakers attended, many premieres were sold out! The Remi Awards Gala Dinner was sold out! The HYC Festival Regatta was a wonderful event, with clear blue skies, low humidity and racing breezes! Dates for the 40th Annual WorldFest-Houston are: April 20-29, 2007. Entries are now closed! -

For the past 2006 WorldFest: 55 New Indie Features, 96 International Shorts, 550+ Intl Directors! Our schedule has posted complete details: Titles, Showtimes, Synopsis, Director, Country of origin and a click-thru for Short Films and Feature Film Trailers for 2006! The Color 2006 Program Book is now on-line to read and print-out!

For our 40th Festival, WorldFest will stream trailers and clips for all Feature films, all Short Films and five Remi Nominees in each category! This is done only with the filmmakers full permission. Our streaming technology cannot be downloaded. There were more than 350,000 viewers of our 2006 Shorts & Feature Film Trailers!
