Your Guide to WorldFest-Houston

This guide covers everything you need to make the most of your festival experience. From how to submit your film to where to park, we’ve answered the questions creators ask most. Whether you’re submitting for the first time or returning as a veteran, our FAQs are here to help you every step of the way.

Want to Submit your Master Piece?

We want to experience your story and invite you to become part of the legacy of independent film history. Submit your film through FilmFreeway to begin the official submission process. We look forward to discovering the next generation of Remi Award winners. Entries open for WorldFest60 in August 2026.

Do you accept works-in-progress?

No, we no longer accept works-in-progress. We expect picture locked entries. Reach out directly with specific questions and we'll do our best!

We’ve got a wide range — features, shorts, docs, music videos, TV pilots, student films, and screenplays. You can view the full categories list here.
I’ve submitted before. Do alumni get a break?

Judging & Notifications

Explore our Judging and Notification FAQs for information on the judging process and submission notifications.

How does judging work?

Every entry is reviewed by multiple jury members in a blind process, when possible. We’re looking for "a good story, well told" with an eye out for originality, craft, and heart — not big budgets or big names. Bonus points for our Texas filmmakers and global perspectives.

When will I hear if my film is selected?
We’ve got a wide range — features, shorts, docs, music videos, TV pilots, student films, and screenplays. You can view the full categories list here.
Who is on your jury?

We have a rotating group of cinefiles, industry professionals, WorldFest award-winners and festival staff/volunteers. If you're interested serving on the jury, apply here.
